LG buys 10 per cent of Robotis for $8.5 million

South Korean electronics giant LG has acquired a 10.12 per cent stake in Robotis, according to the Korea Herald

The website reports that LG paid $8.5 million for a share of Robotis, which is also a South Korean company.

Robotis develops a while range of robotics technologies, including robotic controllers and sensor modules. 

It also offers a range of humanoid robots which go from small, toy-like dimensions to full human-like size.

Robotis products are sold through its own website and through the Mouser Electronics sales network.

Robotis’ OP2 development platform was also recently used by STMicroelectronics and Asratec for the building of a humanoid robot that was showcased at the Embedded Technology event a few months ago.
